PWPSD nominates Jenny Keddie for Edwin Parr Teacher Award

Peace Wapiti Public School Division (PWPSD) announces Whispering Ridge Community School (WRCS) Grade 3 teacher Mrs. Jenny Keddie as its 2026 Edwin Parr Teacher Award nominee.

Mrs. Keddie began her Bachelor of Education in 2007, before taking a break to raise her family. Now, as a proud mother of three, she has completed her degree and accepted her first teaching position at WRCS. Colleagues describe Mrs. Keddie as an exceptional teacher who intentionally creates an inclusive learning environment where every student feels supported, capable, and valued. “Jenny makes learning meaningful by connecting lessons to students’ experiences, often drawing on acreage life and local contexts, to help students better relate to concepts being taught,” says WRCS Grade 3 teacher, Mrs. Ashlee Scheller.

Mrs. Keddie is actively involved in supporting both her school and community in ways that support the experiences of her children and students at WRCS and beyond the classroom. She has shown commitment to her students, colleagues and families by going above and beyond to create open communication between the classroom and home, ensuring each student has a team supporting their educational journey.

WRCS Principal, Mrs. Abby Stilwell, says Mrs. Keddie has been very inspiring since beginning her teaching career. “Watching Mrs. Jenny Keddie’s journey as she pursued her Bachelor of Education degree, returning to school as a busy mother of three, and now as a first-year teacher at Whispering Ridge Community School has been truly heartwarming. Her commitment to students, intentional collaboration with colleagues, and willingness to step up and create meaningful opportunities within our school have been commendable.” Mrs. Stilwell states supporting this nomination for the Edwin Parr Teacher Award is an honour.

PWPSD is privileged to nominate Mrs. Keddie for the 2026 Edwin Parr Teacher Award and is excited to see where her career will take her.

The Alberta School Boards Association (ASBA)’s annual Edwin Parr Teacher Awards recognize excellent first year teachers across the province. As PWPSD’s nominee, Mrs. Keddie will be recognized at the ASBA Zone 1 meeting where the zone selection committee will consider her for the award. Each year, only six teachers throughout Alberta are awarded the Edwin Parr Teacher Award.
