Mr. Daren Pullishy has been named Spirit River Regional Academy (SRRA)’s new principal for 2023-2024. He has worked for Peace Wapiti Public School Division in various roles since 1995, and has been Assistant Principal of SRRA for the past nine years.
Mr. Pullishy holds a Bachelor of Education from the University of Alberta where he majored in biological sciences. In 2010, he completed his Master of Education through the University of Northern British Columbia with a focus on Multidisciplinary Leadership.
Mr. Pullishy says he is looking forward to carrying on with the everyday business that makes SRRA so successful, and embracing the responsibility of a principal to continue building strong relationships with students, parents and the many stakeholders of the community. “Having the opportunity to serve the community in this capacity is a labour of love. There is no better occupation in the world that gives one a sense of fulfillment than when you see the children grow, mature, and develop into young adults; earning their diplomas and knowing they are prepared for the next stage in their lives.”
Mr. Pullishy will be replacing current principal, Ms. Dawne Kurtz-McNaught, who is set to retire at the end of the school year.
