PWPSD working with County of Grande Prairie on new high school project

Peace Wapiti Public School Division (PWPSD) and the County of Grande Prairie are delighted to be working together on a new high school that will be located in the Hamlet of Clairmont. In March, the Province announced it would be allocating planning funding for the school, which will replace the current Peace Wapiti Academy once complete.

PWPSD Board Chair Lori Grant says, “We are working with the County of Grande Prairie to ensure the draft Area Structure Plan is approved, the land is serviced, and the title is transferred to our division. The County has been extremely supportive in securing the new high school.”

County of Grande Prairie Reeve Bob Marshall adds, “Schools play an important role in creating vibrant communities, so we are pleased to see this new and modernized replacement high school located in the County.”

The County of Grande Prairie also played an integral role in securing an appropriate location for the new Harry Balfour School, located near Five Mile Hall east of Grande Prairie, and preparing it for construction. PWPSD is very grateful for the continued partnership that allows the Division to support and serve its students.
