Peace Wapiti Enterprise Centre moves into new home

The Peace Wapiti Enterprise Centre (PWEC) is excited to announce it will begin the 2022-2023 school year in a new location. The new, larger space will provide improved facilities and offer more opportunities for students to connect with their teachers and each other.

Alternative Education Principal Kate Thon says staff are excited for the move. “We are very excited to be able to offer increased drop-in times for students to come in and work on their courses. We will also have increased access to services and additional student workshops on the schedule.”

Ms. Thon says the new PWEC building will have the space to run clubs, host activities, and nurture better connections with everyone. “With our limited space in the previous location, it was rare to not have exams in session, which made fostering a less structured and more relaxed environment a little challenging.”

PWEC students are also excited about the move. Blue Vetsch, who has been with PWEC since the first location opened in Grande Prairie in 2018, says they are happy about the increased drop-in availability. “Ever since PWEC has gained traction drop-ins have only been allowed on Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays, because Wednesdays and Fridays were reserved for credit courses. I’m excited for drop-ins to go back to five days a week.” Blue says the extra space will also be nice, as it will allow students and staff to accomplish more things all at once.

PWEC's new home will be located at 10720 117 Avenue in Grande Prairie, AB.
