Grande Prairie, AB – Tomorrow marks the start of a succession of high school graduation ceremonies throughout Peace Wapiti Public School Division (PWPSD). All events will adhere to the current public health protocols.
On Friday, May 28, Sexsmith Secondary School will send off 73 graduates during a Rustic with Glitter and Gold-themed cap and gown ceremony in the school parking lot. Graduates will receive their diplomas by individual appointments during 9:30 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.
Ridgevalley School will host a drive-in cap and gown ceremony and grand march for nine graduates at the school beginning at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 29. Graduates chose a Red Carpet theme. In keeping with the current guidelines for gatherings, the event is by invitation only.
On Friday, June 4, Spirit River Regional Academy’s 33 graduates will receive their diplomas by individual appointments on the school’s south lawn beginning at 9:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. The theme of this event is Rustic Country Garden.
On Saturday, June 12, Peace Wapiti Academy (PWA) will host a commencement ceremony for 126 graduates beginning at 9:30 p.m. at the Evergreen Park Drive-In Theatre. Two Teachers will serve as guest speakers: Harley McKechnie of Whispering Ridge Community School and Calvin Flint of Harry Balfour School. A Rustic Starry Night-themed grand march event will be held earlier the same day at 2:00 p.m. at Evergreen Park.
Alternative Education will present diplomas and gifts to 16 graduates by individual appointments during June 21-24 at the Peace Wapiti Enterprise Centre in Grande Prairie. Cap and gown photos will be taken during each presentation.
Savanna School will host a graduation event for 10 graduates on Saturday, July 3. The event is open to invited guests only.
A second announcement on graduation ceremony plans for Beaverlodge Regional High School and Eaglesham School will be released next week.
