Grande Prairie, AB – Leadership at Peace Wapiti Public School Division, Grande Prairie Public School Division and Grande Prairie and District Catholic Schools have made a joint decision to postpone team sports and practices for the month of September, while schools focus on reorienting students to in-school learning and supporting wellness.
The tri-board decision aligns with a statement from the Alberta Schools Athletic Association (ASAA) on August 13, 2020, postponing all ASAA fall provincial championships until the Alberta Government moves to Stage 3 of its provincial relaunch strategy.
The decision also supports maintaining classroom cohorts, and reduces interaction with students from other classes. Students will continue to experience physical activity as part of their classroom cohort, through both indoor and outdoor physical education classes and activities.
A further announcement planned for the end of September will reflect updated guidance from the province at that time.
